What are urobilinogen and bilirubin?
Urobilinogen and bilirubin are important diagnostic tools for identifying liver and biliary tract disorders. The liver is responsible for a wide range of functions in the body, including detoxifying harmful substances, regulating blood sugar levels, and producing bile for digestion. When the liver is not functioning properly, it can lead to a range of serious health issues, including cirrhosis, hepatitis, and even cancer.

Elevated levels of bilirubin in the urine may indicates

Hepatitis
Obstruction of the biliary tract
Liver disease (e.g. cirrhosis)

Elevated levels of urobilinogen in the urine may indicates

Liver disease
Hemolytic anemia (caused by medications, infections or inherited conditions)
Liver dysfunction

Low levels of urobilinogen in the urine may indicates

Result interpretation
If either urobilinogen or bilirubin is detected in the urine sample, it is important to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and mangement.

Directions

Urinate into a clean and dry container. First morning urine is recommended. Avoid testing during your menstrual period
Remove the strip from the bottle for immediate use and replace the cap tightly
Dip the test strip completely for no more than 1 second in urine. Excessive urine on the test strip may give rise to a wrong result. Run the edge of the strip against the rim of the urine contaner to remove excess urine. Excessive urine may also be removed by gently blotting the lengthwise edge on absorbent paper
Lay the strip with the test pads facing upwards and begin timing. Wait 1 minute before reading the results. Proper reading time is critical for optimal results
Compare the test results carefully with the color chart on the bottle label in good light. While waiting and comparing, keep the strip in a horizontal position to avoid possible interaction of chemicals by excessive urine. Changes in color that appear only along the edgesof the test areas or after more than 2 minutes has passed are of no significance
Compare each reagent area to its corresponding color blocks on the color chart of the bottle label. Match the color of the test pad to the closest color block on the color chart

Do not read the results after 2 minutes
